Bronco Federal Credit Union continues its “Together We Can” food drive, which has a goal by April 30 of collecting 5,000 pounds of food to be donated within the community.

Last year’s drive, which was held in conjunction with the Virginia Credit Union League’s Credit Unions Care Foundation of Virginia, raised about 4,700 pounds of food, which was donated to the Franklin Cooperative Ministries food bank. This year, the credit union’s goal is 5,000 pounds, officials stated in a press release.

“We greatly appreciate the outpouring of support that we received last year from our members and staff with collecting nearly 4,700 pounds of food,” Bronco Chief Executive Officer Brian Hedgepeth said.

“We realize that we couldn’t have done it without them, but we challenge them to reach the goal of 5,000 pounds that we have set this year. The bar has been set high, but without a doubt I believe that they can do it.”

Bronco is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year and has a variety of promotions, including a drawing for a 0.75-percent loan rate, connected to the food drive. Members of the credit union are being asked to donate 15 canned goods or non-perishable food items to receive the promotional benefits.
