Sylvester G. Barnes Jr., 77, passed away on April 24, 2016. He was born in West Virginia to the late Sylvester Sr. and Thelma Barnes. Mr. Barnes was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Discalced Carmelites Secular Order.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Barnes; daughter, Debra Barnes (Jerry), of Auburn, Wash.; sons, David Barnes (Darlene), of Suffolk, Daniel Barnes, of Seattle, Wash., Dennis Barnes, of Bozman, Mont.; sister, Cindy Price, of Stillwater, Okla.; brother, Bill Barnes, of Anza, Calif.; grandchildren, Bret, Blane, Melinda, Joe, Isis, Shane, Cassandra, Alex; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be held Friday, April 29, 2016, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 202 S. Broad St., Suffolk, with Father Emmanuel Mensah officiating.
