PDCCC announces finalists

Four finalist candidates for the position of president of Paul D. Camp Community College have been announced, and there will be opportunities for the public to meet with them next week.

The four were among 90 people who applied for the presidency from across the country, according to a press release from PDCCC. The appointee will follow Dr. William C. Aiken, who has served as interim president since April 2015.

The four finalists are:

  • Dr. Pamela J. Haney, who is currently vice president of academic affairs for Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, Ill., a position she has held since 2012. She previously served as dean of the college’s science, business and computer technology department. She holds a doctorate in interpersonal communication from Bowling Green State University, Ohio, and did her undergraduate and master’s work at Norfolk State University.
  • Dr. Daniel W. Lufkin, who is currently vice president for student affairs at Thomas Nelson Community College in Hampton, a position he has held since 2013. Prior to that, he was dean of enrollment management at Maricopa County Community College District/Gateway in Phoenix. He holds a doctorate in education from Nova Southeastern University, Florida.
  • Dr. Mark Smith, who is currently vice president of educational services at Temple College in Temple, Texas, a position he has held since 2008. Previously, he was associate vice president of the college’s distance education department. He holds a doctorate in education from Capella University, Minn.
  • Dr. Dr. Kristen A. Westover, who is currently vice president for academic and student services at Patrick Henry Community College in Martinsville, a position she has held since 2011. Previously, she was higher education program coordinator at the University of Texas in Austin. She holds a doctorate in education from Nova Southeastern University, Florida.

On-campus interviews will be held next week. Westover will visit May 2; Haney on May 3; Lufkin on May 4; and Smith on May 5.

There will be opportunities for faculty, staff, students and the community to meet each of the candidates from 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. on the day of the visit. Each event will be held in the Technology Theater at the college’s Regional Workforce Development Center, 100 N. College Drive, Franklin.

In addition, the local college board will meet with each candidate on the day of the visit from 7 to 8 p.m. at the workforce center.
