Shirley Temple Funches, 74, of 920 Lake Kennedy Drive, Suffolk, transitioned Sunday, June 5, 2016, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Southampton County and the daughter of the late John Henry and Louise Mae Gray.

She retired as a driver for Tidewater Cab Company. Ms. Funches was a former member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory three sisters, Violet Sumblin, of Franklin, Evelyn Jenkins, of Courtland, and Betty Council, of Suffolk; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2016, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 10696 Ivor Road, Ivor, officiated by the Rev. Nathaniel Council.
