Mark Allen Epperson, 53, of Suffolk, passed away on June 18, 2016. He was the son of the late William Anderson and Jenny Lee Redd Epperson, both of Suffolk.

Mark was a Code 133 Section Head of Structural Inspection at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, where he was employed for 34 years. Mark was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a skydiving instructor, holding numerous certifications, Virginia state record holder, and Virginia Parachute Council state champion for 4-way relative work in 1999. He had more than 5,000 logged skydives and trained thousands to skydive.

He is survived by his wife, Susan H. Epperson; children, Jesse A. Epperson and wife, Kerri, and David K. Epperson and wife, Brittany; grandchildren, Jace and Jemma Epperson; brothers, William “Skip” Epperson and Danny Epperson; and sister, Jenny Lynn O’Brien.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at 6 p.m. at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk.
