Two indicted in March homicide

The grand jury on Wednesday indicted two teens charged with the homicide of 23-year-old Aaron L. Hunter in March.

Markelyn Lamontre Jones, 17, and Mandocous Jayni Rivers, 19, have been indicted on multiple charges, including first-degree murder, malicious wounding, robbery, attempted robbery, conspiracy and firearms charges.

According to a press release from the time, the shooting took place about 9:20 p.m. March 11 at the Wilson Pines Apartments in the 2500 block of East Washington Street.

Another 23-year-old was injured in the shooting.

Although Jones is 17, his case has been transferred to adult criminal court.

Also indicted Wednesday on 60 crimes including possession and distribution of child pornography was 48-year-old James Ryan Wood, of the 700 block of Manning Bridge Road. He was arrested Feb. 24 after police executed a search warrant, according to a city press release from the day of the arrest.

In all, the grand jury indicted 40 defendants on 190 charges.

  • Don Ellis Greene — statutory burglary; enter home of protected person; assault and battery of family member; destruction of property with intent
  • Timmy Lamont Hicks — unauthorized use of vehicle; larceny of firearm; possess firearm by convicted felon
  • Kristin Mae Jarman — concealment third offense
  • Lovell Jenkins — possession of Schedule I or II drugs with intent to distribute
