Erika M. Hyman

U.S. Air Force Airman Erika M. Hyman graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Hyman is the daughter of Eric and Tara Hyman, of Suffolk, and sister of Tiffany Carpenter, of Portsmouth.

The airman graduated in 2014 from King’s Fork High School.

James A. Chapman III

James A. Chapman III has completed the Warrant Officer Candidate Course and been commissioned as a warrant officer in the U.S. Army.

He is currently serving as a chief fire control sergeant at Fort Carson, Colo.

Chapman is the son of James A. Chapman Jr. and stepson of Francais L. Chapman, of Suffolk, nephew of Garrie Spivey, of Chesapeake, husband of Monica N. Chapman, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and son-in-law of Michael Stuckey, of Macon, Ga., and Melody Stuckey, of Norfolk.

He is a 2000 graduate of Nansemond River High School. He earned an associate degree in 2015 from Central Texas College, Killeen, Texas.
