To the editor:

I read Christine Flowers’ column, “Listening to science on abortion” on the July 1 opinion page of the Suffolk News-Herald.

Nice job. Flowers gave great illustrations on how folks are not supposed to compare other atrocities to that of killing babies. Her approach is just way too practical and logical for the political climate today.

You know the old saying: If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it probably is a duck.

I have never heard a mother who wants her baby refer to it as a mass of tissue or say “I’m going to have a fetus!” They always say, “I’m going to have a BABY!”

I have always believed that science and biology point out the obvious. How can a head, arms, legs, fingers and so on not be a person?

The “Christian Right” is often pointed out and ridiculed on the abortion issue — maybe sometimes deservedly by the way they go about it.

I am a right wing, tea party, conservative, fanatic, religious zealot, Christian. I am not a Republican, but I am a pastor.

I’ve never had to use anything except fact to defend the unborn. My personal moral beliefs support science and biology.
