Parks and Recreation offers tennis lessons to all ages

Suffolk Parks and Recreation will offer summer tennis lessons for all ages beginning July 6.

Children’s lessons, which will focus on motor skills, hand-eye coordination and the basics of tennis, will be offered for ages 5-12. The lessons will be offered from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays July 6-25 and Aug. 1-29. The lessons will be offered at the same times on Wednesdays July 6-27 and Aug. 1-29. The cost of the course is $20.

Parks and Recreation will also offer youth intermediate lessons for ages 10-17 who already have lesson experience and are ready to begin match play. The lessons will take place from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays July 5-26 and Aug. 2-30. Lessons will also take place at the same time on Thursdays July 7-28 and Aug. 4-25. The fee for the course is $20.

There will also be adult beginner tennis lessons, where participants will learn basic tennis skills and progress to intermediate level. Participants are required to wear proper attire and bring their own racquets. The course will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays July 5-28 and Aug. 2-30. The course costs $23.

The final class that is offered is adult cardio tennis. This course is a combination of tennis drills and exercises. Participants are encouraged to bring their own racquets. The class takes place from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Monday-Friday from July 5-Nov. 1. The class costs $20.
