Mr. John Dawson Jr., of 208 Katherine St., Suffolk, went into eternal rest on Thursday, July 7, 2016, at Nansemond Pointe Kindred Care.

John worked in the security department for St. Bride’s Correctional Center and was a CYSGT of the U.S. Marines. He was a faithful and long time member of the Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving sister, Celestine D. Ashe, of Suffolk, along with his daughter, Robin Lee, and grandchildren, Kiara Lee and Tameka Brown, all of Suffolk. He will be lovingly missed by his great-granddaughter, Maleah Brown, along with a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held at Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at 1 p.m. Interment will be at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday at Harris Funeral Home Inc., 685 Carolina Road, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Professional services have been entrusted to Harris Funeral Home Inc.
