Murder mystery party planned

The Suffolk Public Library and the Suffolk Art League are adding another event to the Month of Mystery. Staff from the library and art league teamed up to develop the Murder Mystery Pizza Party, which will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 18 at the Suffolk Art Gallery. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

August boasts the annual Mystery Authors Festival at the Cultural Art Center, which served as the inspiration for this collaboration.

Those age 16 and up are invited to a pizza party at “Pizza Pete’s Restaurant,” where participants may be needed to solve a crime among a cast of suspects. Pizza is being donated by Little Caesars, and dessert and drinks will also be served.

Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP to 514-7323, amartin@suffolkva.us, or on the library’s Murder Mystery Pizza Party Facebook event page by marking themselves as going.

This isn’t the first partnership between the library and art league. Past events have included art classes for different ages and a floral pastel drawing class for adults to celebrate Georgia O’Keeffe’s work.

The art league is also hosting a summer camp program for kids this year, during which participants can become art detectives and explore the mysterious world of art.
