To the editor:

I would like to extend a hearty welcome for the registered voters of Suffolk, Isle of Wight, Chesapeake, and Franklin to the Third Congressional District.

With the new Third District layout, you are now represented by Congressman Bobby Scott. The new district layout has also produced a new, first-time challenger from Chesapeake by the name of Marty Williams.

Marty is a retired Chesapeake police officer with 25 years of experience. He is currently the chairman of the Chesapeake Planning Commission. Marty is a staunch supporter of our Second Amendment rights, locally run education and securing our borders, as well as creating pathways to legal immigration.

With our national debt rapidly approaching $20 trillion, Marty will vote for commonsense solutions to enable fiscal responsibility and budgetary restraint, while maintaining a strong military and addressing infrastructure needs and reducing business taxes and regulation.
