A Suffolk man was arrested in Camden County last week after allegedly using a woman’s identity to purchase $8,000 worth of designer shoes.

Tecorey Deonte Jamal Fortson was arrested Monday and charged with felony obtaining property by false pretense, felony identity theft and common law forgery, according to a press release from the Camden County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the press release, a woman from Currituck County was the victim of a stolen identity, and a suspect allegedly used her identity to purchase six pairs of Christian Louboutin shoes worth $8,000. The shoes were shipped by UPS to Camden County.

Deputies found Fortson at the UPS location waiting for the package, according to the press release. They also learned two separate packages were intercepted by Fortson within the last week from UPS.

Fortson signed the victim’s name and accepted the packages, according to the press release.

Fortson was released from the Albemarle District Jail after posting a $25,000 secured bond. He has a court date on Aug. 26.

“Sheriff (Tony) Perry advises everyone to keep a check on their bank accounts and use credit monitoring to ensure your identity is not compromised,” the press release stated.
