King’s Fork wins golf match

The Bulldogs topped two other teams Wednesday at Bide-A-Wee Golf Curse.

The top performer of the day was the Bulldogs’ own Tyler Branch, with a score of 89. Prior to the match, coach Calvin Mitchell wanted his team to continue to get better and finish holes.

“We want to finish holes off right,” Mitchell said. “Our players are hungry to learn, and they want to get better.”

The Bulldogs played nine holes on Thursday at Bide-A-Wee Golf Course before lightning shortened the match. King’s Fork lost 215-185.

Nansemond River also lost to Deep Creek. The match was contested to 16 holes due to weather.

“It was not a great performance, but we did show a new average,” coach Brandon Frye said. “We are better than we were at the beginning of the year.”
