Dr. Clarence P. “C.P.” Penn, retired superintendent of Surry County Public Schools, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2016.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lebanon Baptist Church. A wake will be held at Lebanon Baptist Church from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Shivers Funeral Home in Smithfield is in charge of services.
