Anna Jett Johnson was born in Fredericksburg on Jan. 22, 1932. She attended Falmouth High in Stafford County before going on to graduate as a Registered Nurse from Louise Obici School of Nursing’s first graduating class. Anna married Raymond O. Johnson Sr. in 1952. In their 54 years of marriage, Anna and Raymond had five children together and, in part to keep their large family busy, founded Johnson’s Gardens Inc. in 1961. Anna was a longtime member of Bethlehem Christian Church, and was incredibly devoted to her family and her family business and was a lifetime caregiver to anyone who needed her help.

Anna was predeceased by her husband, Raymond O. Johnson Sr.; her brothers, Charlie and Roy Jett; her sister, Rosemary Schools; and her grandson, Thomas J. O‘Connor IV. She is survived by her brothers and sisters, John, Earl and Paul Jett, Palma Blom and Margaret Morgan. She also leaves behind her sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Yvonne Johnson, Tim and Helen Johnson, Mike Johnson and Allen Johnson; her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Vernon Towler; as well as grandchildren, Angie and Steven White, Ryan and Mary Beth Johnson, Jamie Johnson, Jett Johnson, Megan and Mark Pennisi, Sam Towler, Anna Grace Towler; and five great-grandchildren. The family would also like to thank Sam Cousar, Frances Lankford, Rhonda Meinhardt, and all of the caregivers at Compassionate Care Hospice for the amazing care and support they have provided in recent years and months.

A celebration of her life will be held Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Christian Church, 1549 Holland Road, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family invites friends to reflect on Anna’s life and enjoy sharing memories in each other’s company in the fellowship hall following the service. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, is serving the family.
