Riverbend Church will host its second community day event this month.

Hundreds are expected to gather on church grounds on Sept. 24 for the second annual Hey Suffolk! Community Fest.

“This is a community day and a way to say ‘hey’ to the community,” said Mike Bauswell, a church member. “This is a way for us to get our name out there as well.”

The fest serves as a driving force for building relationships in the community.

Last year, the fest attracted more than 800 church members and people in the community. Bauswell expects more than 1,000 to attend this year.

The fest, which has no admission charge, will feature local food vendors, live Christian contemporary and Southern gospel music and activities for all ages to enjoy.

Riverbend, a non-denominational Christian church located on Meadow View Boulevard, is led by pastor Bobby Hill. He also serves as an assistant professor at Regent University.

The church has Sunday services at both 9 and 11 a.m.
