Suffolk firefighters put out a fire in a home in the 200 block of Pine Street on Wednesday afternoon.

The fire was reported at 1:11 p.m., and the first units were on scene three minutes later. They found smoke showing from the rear of the residence and the attic space eaves, according to a city press release.

The fire was contained to the kitchen and called under control at 1:37 p.m. The occupants had evacuated prior to the arrival of firefighters. There were no injuries.

Three adults and three juveniles were displaced and are being assisted by the Suffolk Chapter of the American Red Cross, according to the release.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
