Following the impact of Hurricane Matthew, the city is providing extra bulk waste or special collections to Suffolk residents.

Bulk waste collected by the Department of Public Works through Oct. 31 will not count towards the maximum number of 12 collections per year.

The bulk waste collection program allows residents to place one pile of up to 8 cubic yards curbside on any collection day. Bulk waste collection refers to the removal of large, bulky items and other items that are too large to fit into the container, including yard waste, appliances, furniture, mattresses, debris and boxes.

It is not necessary to contact Public Works to schedule these collections.

Place your items curbside no later than 7 a.m. on the day of collection. The bulk waste program is strictly limited to residential generated debris. Debris generated by contractors will not be collected.
