Veterans Day closures announced

In observance of Veterans Day, Suffolk City offices will be closed Friday, Nov. 11. Normal operations will resume Monday, Nov. 14, at 8:30 a.m.
The following city facilities and services will observe the following schedule:
The Suffolk Tourism Visitor Center will remain open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.
All Suffolk City Libraries will be closed Friday and Saturday.
The Suffolk Art Gallery will be closed Friday.
Suffolk Parks & Recreation joint use recreation facilities will be closed Friday.
East Suffolk Recreation Center, Whaleyville Community Center and the Suffolk Parks & Recreation Administration Office will be closed on Friday.
Suffolk’s four major parks — Lone Star Lakes, Constant’s Wharf, Sleepy Hole,
and Bennett’s Creek — will remain open Friday; however, no park attendant will be on duty.
The Suffolk Executive Airport will remain open on Friday; however, the terminal will not be manned.
Suffolk Transit will operate as scheduled on Friday.
Suffolk Public Works Department and TFC Recycling will pick up trash and recycling on a one-day delay. Friday’s route will be picked up on Saturday. Trash must be placed at curbside no later than 7 a.m. on the day of collection. Businesses in the Downtown Business Overlay District will also have their regular Friday collection picked up on Saturday. For more information on refuse collection, call Public Works at 514-7630.
The Southeastern Public Safety Authority Transfer Station in Suffolk will be open from 7 a.m. to noon on Friday. The Regional Landfill will be open from 7 a.m. to noon on Friday.
