There are plans for new retail and office buildings at the 5800 block of Harbour View Boulevard, near the intersection of Harbour View Boulevard and Harbour Towne Parkway.
Troy Parker, managing broker and partner at Parker Burnell Real Estate Group, said he is in the process of gathering leases for the location.
“It is about 40 percent pre-leased,” Parker said.
Parker hopes to finalize the leases by the middle of the month. Once the leases are secured, Parker anticipates construction will begin in early spring.
The development rests on more than three acres and will total about 20,000 square feet, according to Parker.
The site will feature two buildings, with one spanning about 7,000 square feet and the other about 13,000 square feet. Parker said six to eight tenants are expected to occupy the spaces.
“Folks are excited about new retail and convenience choices,” said Kevin Hughes, the city’s economic development director.
Parker Burnell Real Estate Group is also responsible for two other retail developments in the area.
The firm developed the Main Street Shoppes on North Main Street. The site features a Starbucks, Kay Jewelers and several other retail and restaurant tenants.
Additionally, the company is currently developing the Centerbrooke Commons on Godwin Boulevard at the U.S. Route 58 interchange. This development will feature two buildings, one of about 10,000 square feet and the other about 23,000 square feet, according to Parker.
Also, there are plans for a Lidl to be built adjacent from the Harbour View stores, Parker said.
Lidl spokesperson William Harwood stated in an email, “We are actively preparing a number of sites in the area as we expand and that our plan is to have our first stores open in the U.S. no later than 2018.”
