Indoor track begins

Suffolk track teams recently participated in the first indoor Southeastern District meet of the year at Boo Williams Sportsplex.

Girls’ results:

Nansemond River: Jasmine Watson placed second in the 55-meter hurdles finals. Kiara Monroe and Anaya Howard placed second and third, respectively, in the 55-meter dash finals. The girls’ 4×200 meter relay placed third with a time of 1:49.15. They also placed third in the 4×400 and 4×800. Senior Karah Foster placed eighth in 300-meter dash finals.

Lakeland: Loren Biggs placed first in the 55-meter dash finals. Enicia Hopes placed ninth in the 300-meter dash finals, fifth in the 500-meter dash and fourth in triple jump.

King’s Fork: Paige Summers placed fifth in the 1,600-meter finals. Madeline Rawlings placed 10th, giving the Lady Bulldogs two top-10 finishes. Imani Urbanski placed second in the high jump.

Nansemond River finished fifth in the standings as a team, while Lakeland finished seventh.

Boys’ results:

Nansemond River: The 4×400 relay team finished fourth.

Lakeland: Darren Daughtry finished first in the 55-meter hurdle finals with a time of 7.6. Daughtry finished fourth in the 300-meter dash, with a time of 37.09. The boys’ 4×800 team placed first with a time of 9:06.89. Garrett Whitley placed second in the shot put.

King’s Fork: Nasir Davis placed third in the 300-meter dash with a time of 36.99 and second in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.65. The 4×800 relay team placed second with the 9:09.02.

Lakeland finished fourth in the standings, while King’s Fork finished sixth.
