Howard Philip Andrews, 59, of Suffolk, retired U.S. Navy Petty Officer, 1st Class, Radio Man, passed away suddenly on Dec. 17, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Dr. Gwendolyn J. Andrews and the devoted father of Howard Aubrey “Jebediah” Andrews. He leaves behind him family in California, Florida and Alabama. He is survived by his treasured mother, Kumiko Andrews, of California. Phil’s father, Howard Don Andrews, retired Army Command Sergeant Major, predeceased him. Phil dearly loved his sisters, Ruth Andrews (Nicholas), of California, and Donna Trevino (Joseph, Christopher, Daniel, Tashia), of California. Aunt Joanne Sloan and cousin Roxanne Sloan, of Ozark, Ala., uncle Frank Andrews (Jane), of Florida, as well as uncle Bob Andrews, of Norfolk, are family members, and Philip was honored as friend by Latter-day Saints Sister Betty Stump and the Bennett’s Creek elders. Philip was a lifetime member of the UDT-SEAL Association and the Disabled American Veterans; he was also a veteran charter member of the United Spinal Association.
All friends and former military associates are invited to attend visitation for Phil on the evening of Wednesday, Dec. 21, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, and for service at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22.
