Dog dies in fire

A dog died in a house fire Thursday evening, but no humans were injured.
Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel responded to the fire at a two-story residence in the 100 block of Zebulon Court. The fire was reported at 9:09 p.m.
Responding units found heavy smoke coming from the garage and inside the residence. The fire was contained to the garage.
Two adults were home at the time, and no injuries were reported. However, a dog that was in the garage died as a result of the fire.
The two adult residents were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
