Road closures and delays for Jan. 23, 2017

The following roads in the City of Suffolk will have closures that could cause delays, Monday, Jan. 23, due to construction and maintenance projects.
New Projects:
Nansemond Parkway: A contractor will have a lane closure in the 1300 block of Nansemond Parkway to replace curb and gutter and a paving and milling operation from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through January 27th.
Shoulders Hill Road: A contractor will have a flagging operation in the 5600 block of Shoulders Hill Road from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Nansemond Parkway: A contractor will have a westbound lane closure in the 3300 block of Nansemond Parkway from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Ongoing Projects:
Wilroy Road: Beginning January 4, 2017, Public Works Operations and associated subcontractors, will have the 2200 block of Wilroy Road (between Progress Road and BASF Corporation) closed for road repair. A detour will be in place with southbound traffic detoured to continue on Nansemond Parkway to Progress Road and northbound traffic detoured onto Progress Road to Nansemond Parkway. This closure will be in place 24 hours per day with the estimated completion of the project to take 35 days.
Arthur Drive: A contractor will be demolishing and reconstructing bridges over Spivey Run and Langston Swamp on Arthur Drive. A detour will be in place to direct motorists. This closure will remain until the estimated completion date of January 31, 2017.
Route 58: Beginning Wednesday, December 21st, a contractor will have eastbound Route 58 closed at the Suffolk and Southampton County line. The westbound lanes will alternate eastbound and westbound until further notice. Oversized vehicles with loads exceeding a width of 10 feet must seek an alternate route.
Grove Avenue and Delaney Drive: A contractor will be installing the HRSD force main on Grove Avenue and Delaney Drive requiring occasional detours and lane closures. Work is scheduled to begin December 19th and estimated to be complete in March 2017. Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Godwin Boulevard on ramp from Route 58 WB: A contractor will have a shoulder closure on the Godwin Boulevard on ramp from Route 58 westbound daily.
Highland Avenue: A contractor will be installing a new pump station and sewer and water lines on Highland Avenue between Kingsboro Street and the end of Highland Avenue at the cul-de-sac. This project will continue through June 2017.
Seaboard Trail: A contractor will have the Seaboard Trail between Main Street and Moore Avenue closed to all pedestrians until further notice. The contractor is estimating a January 2017 completion date.
