Suffolk Foundation scholarship applications open

The Suffolk Foundation is pleased to announce the availability of 10 scholarships to benefit area high school seniors. The individual criteria for each scholarship varies and are available at www.suffolkfoundation.org/scholarships.html.

The available scholarships, their estimated value and minimum eligibility, are:

  • The AllFirst Memorial Scholarship — $1,000 — employees and employee family members of AllFirst General Industrial Construction who intend to pursue a college degree or trade school certification
  • The Ossie S. and Thomas F. Blair Jr. Memorial Scholarship — $5,000 — graduating seniors or former graduates of Suffolk public or private high schools who intend to pursue a college degree
  • The Colonel Fred V. Cherry Scholarship — $2,000 — graduating African-American seniors of Suffolk public high schools who intend to pursue a college degree
  • The Louis & Mary Haddad Foundation Scholarship — $1,000 — graduating seniors of Suffolk public high schools with a documented learning disability who intend to pursue a college degree or accredited career certification program
  • The Louis & Mary Haddad Foundation ForKids Scholarship — $1,000 — graduating seniors of Suffolk public high schools who have been or are affected by homelessness who intend to pursue a college degree or accredited career certification program
  • The William N. “Billy” Hill Scholarship — $1,000 — graduating seniors of Suffolk public high schools who intend to pursue a college degree in education
  • The Howard D. Mast Memorial Scholarship — $5,000 — graduating seniors or former graduates of Suffolk public or private high schools, or accredited home school programs conducted in Suffolk, who intend to pursue a college degree
  • The Lewis F. Morris Memorial Scholarship — $1,000 — graduating seniors of King’s Fork High School who intend to pursue a college degree
  • The Amy Phelps Art Scholarship — $2,000 — graduating seniors of Franklin, Smithfield, Southampton, Surry, Windsor, Sussex or Franklin high schools or Southampton Academy who intend to pursue a career in art in college
  • The Suffolk Business Women’s Scholarship — $5,000 — graduating female seniors of one of Suffolk’s public or private high schools, or accredited home school programs conducted in Suffolk, who intend to pursue a fulltime business major degree program at an accredited college or university

Other specific eligibility criteria apply to each scholarship; applicants are advised to follow closely the application guidelines for the specific scholarship.

Scholarship applications are available now on the Suffolk Foundation website, www.suffolkfoundation.org/scholarhips.html and may also be obtained by visiting each senior’s high school counselor.
