Restaurant Week returns

The 10th anniversary of Suffolk Restaurant Week begins today, and hungry diners can try new creations and rediscover old favorites at more than a dozen Suffolk restaurants.

The 14 participating eateries are offering three-course, fixed-price menus. Diners can order from the Suffolk Restaurant Week menu and get delicacies ranging from fried ravioli and pan-seared rockfish to comfort foods like brisket and apple cobbler.

“It’s really nice for people who have not tried some of the really great restaurants in town,” said Katie Kelley, a tourism development specialist with Suffolk Tourism. “And it’s good for the chefs, because they can try new dishes out on the people that are coming in, or they’ll bring out fan favorites. It’s kind of a win-win for everybody. You get three courses for a really good price.”

Restaurant Week has long featured two dining levels, deluxe and premier. The deluxe menu is $10 for lunch or $20 for dinner, and the premier menu is $15 for lunch and $30 for dinner.

During last year’s fall restaurant week, the ultimate level, at $20 for lunch or $40 for dinner, was added. Kelley said that was by request of some of the participating restaurants.

Each restaurant chooses at what levels and for which meals it will offer Restaurant Week options.

Folks looking to make the experience even more affordable can pay attention to the Suffolk Restaurant Week Facebook page at facebook.com/suffolkrestaurantweek. Kelley said contests will take place there all week long, with the chance to win a gift card contributed by a participating restaurant.

Kelley said BobFM will also be giving out some of the gift cards.

“We try to get the word out there,” she said. “It’s a great deal for everybody.”

Restaurant Week lasts through March 25. Participating restaurants include the following:
