Two people were displaced after a fire on East Washington Street Friday evening.

The fire in the 1000 block of East Washington Street was reported at 6:51 p.m. The first units arrived on scene three minutes later and found moderate smoke coming from the upstairs floor of the two-story residence, according to a city press release.

The fire was marked under control at 7:16 p.m. There were no injuries. The two occupants were displaced and will be receiving assistance from relatives.

The roadway was shut down in both directions for part of the evening.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
