As autumn approaches, Suffolk residents continue to be hard at work and often find themselves daydreaming of the perfect summer vacation.
There are lots of great things to do in the summer in Hampton Roads, but for some people, nothing can beat a cozy cabin getaway in the Rocky Mountains or a relaxing two-week cruise to the Caribbean islands.
With work at hand and travel on the mind, adults and children alike imagine the perfect ending summer 2017.
With that in mind, we asked a few folks how they would spend their dream vacations.
Betty Whitney, 84, Suffolk
“I would go rest somewhere. I’d go on tours, do some shopping, most likely, and I’d definitely want to go spend some time with my family. My family is scattered all over the place — in North Carolina, New York, and Stafford, Virginia.”
Michael Mullen, 12, Suffolk
“I would go to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia. I would want to ride all of the big rides with my family and friends. I’ve been on all of the rides before, but my favorite is the Apollo’s Chariot.”
Tameshia Jeffers, 44, Deland, Fla.
“I would take a trip out of the country and rest on the beach with no worries in the world. I would like to go to St. Kitts in the West Indies to visit the family we haven’t seen in a while. I would want my kids to get to know the culture there, since they don’t know that side of the family very well.”
Emmaleigh Labrozzi, 18, Gates County, N.C.
“I would go on the beach for two weeks with no person in particular. I would like to go out of the country and just find a happy place away from all of the chaos. I would definitely like to get in the water while I was there.”
Wanda Smith, 56, Suffolk
“I would go on a two-week international cruise to Europe, Asia, Australia, or Africa — perhaps next year. I would do a lot of relaxing and exploring, and if we went to Asia, I would like to visit China and walk along the Great Wall.”
Tyrone Binns, 46, Ivor
“I really want to just go fishing on the water, particularly at the Pagan River in Smithfield. I would just fish with my dog; he’s the only one that will go fishing with me, because he’s the only one that trusts me to do so!”
