Annie Moody Rountree, 101, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 25, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Effie and George T. Moody. She was predeceased by her husband, W. Shelton Rountree; six sisters and a brother.

Annie was a member of First Baptist Church, Suffolk’s Woman Club, and Sinai #18 O.E.S.

She is survived by stepdaughter Leah R. Powell and husband, James, of Suffolk; two grandchildren, Renee Ricks and husband, Bert, and Beth Johnson and husband, Keith; great-grandchildren, Kayla Johnson, Kelsey Ricks, James Ricks, Jarrid Johnson, Konner Johnson; sister Tommy Moody Buchanan and husband, Buck, of Suffolk; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017, in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk VA 23434, by the Rev. Dr. Thurman Hayes Jr. and the Rev. Charles W. Thompson. Burial will follow the service at Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Thank you to the staff of Hillcrest Retirement Home for all their care and love given to my stepmom over the past seven years and to her caregivers, Wendy Gray, Juanita Gamble, Leslie Holloway, Tieria Ricks, Daidiner Culbert and Sophia Jones.
