Mabel Wilson Byrum, 97, passed away on Aug. 27, 2017. She was the daughter of the late James and Annie Wilson. She is predeceased by her husband, Hosea R. Byrum; and daughter-in-law, Eugenie Goodrich Byrum. Mabel was a dedicated cook and gardener and a member of Suffolk Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Tommy R. Byrum, of Emporia, Ginelle Byrum Murphy, of Arrowhead Beach, N.C., Alice M. Byrum, of Suffolk, Larry W. Byrum (Mary), of Chase City; sister, Anna Roberson, of Suffolk; brother, James H. Wilson, of Lake Kiowa, Texas; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017, at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, 4569 Shoulders Hill Road, Suffolk, VA 23435 officiated by the Rev. Michael Blythe. Condolences may be offered at RWBakerFH.com.
