The Salvation Army Suffolk Corps hopes to “pin down homelessness” with a wrestling-themed fundraiser this week.

This is the third fundraiser the Salvation Army has held with Vanguard Championship Wrestling. Arn “The Enforcer” Anderson will be available for a meet-and-greet prior to the matches this Saturday, Sept. 9.

Capt. Johnny Anthony, administrator of the Salvation Army Suffolk Corps, said the last few months have been tough for homelessness in Suffolk.
“We get phone calls from people who need emergency shelter assistance, and we had to turn them away due to lack of funds,” Anthony said. “We’re trying to make sure we raise funding for that. The more people that come out, the more money we can raise for homelessness.”

Tickets to the event are $20. A number of meet-and-greet, photo op and autograph packages are also available for up to $60.

The Peanut City Showdown will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Salvation Army, with the meet-and-greet beginning at 5 p.m. Visit vcw-wrestling.com for tickets.

Those who can’t attend can also donate toward the cause of eliminating homelessness from their phone by texting TAPOUT to 71777.
