Mabel Marie Harrell, 71, affectionately known as “Tot,” was born on July 1, 1946, to the late Stanley Ashe Sr. and Reather H. Ashe. She was the wife of the late Dennis McCoy Harrell Sr. and the sister to the late Janie Carter, Rosa Ashe and Edward Ashe.

Mabel was a dedicated and loving housewife. She expressed her love in so many ways by helping others in need, sharing her love and support with everyone, and keeping her family together.

Sadly, on Sept. 5, 2017, Mabel entered into eternal slumber. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her five children, Teresa A. Boone (Arthur Sr.), Mabel D. Godwin (Darnell), April L. Alston (Michael Sr.), Dennis Harrell Jr. (Shatesha) and Deatrice Baker (Brian); devoted and loving friend, John Harris; siblings, Shirley Ashe, Stanley Ashe Jr., Willie L. Ashe and Moses Ashe; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, uncle, in-laws, cousins and friends.

Ms. Harrell’s visitation will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A celebration of life service will take place at noon on Saturday at the funeral home chapel, and she will be laid to rest at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
