Artisans are turning underwear into artwork to help raise money for a Hampton Roads non-profit organization.

The Twisted Art and More shop in Suffolk’s Driver village is holding its first Twisted Bra fundraiser. More than 50 Hampton Roads artisans rent space in the store to sell art made from repurposed materials and antique items.

These artisans will repurpose 10 bras with striking colors and fun designs from Wednesday to Sunday, according to the press release. Their fancy underwear will be on display at the shop for visitors to submit a silent auction bid with their contact information, and the winners will be announced shortly after Driver Days.

Men will even volunteer to model the garments to get more bids for the auction, according to the press release. Money raised will go to the Virtuous Woman nonprofit for breast cancer survivors.

“It’s similar to Bras for a Cause and Bra-ha-ha, but we’re putting our own twist on it,” said Mia Copeland with Twisted Art and More.

Twisted Art and More owner Wanda McClenney stated in the press release that the organization was recommended by Tina Natoli, one of the store’s artisans.

“Tina has had experience with this organization that helps provide support to breast cancer patients by providing meals, transportation, wigs, basically anything someone may need,” McClenney stated. “We felt it was a wonderful cause we could help participate in by utilizing our creative talents.”
