Walter Edward Vann Jr., 80, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 17, 2017. Jr. was born Dec. 19, 1936. He leaves behind his loving wife, Jeanette, of 12 years. He is survived by a son, Edward Lee Vann (Sherry) and three daughters, Shirley Jones (Doug), Judy Dilday and Phyllis Jones (preceded in death) from a previous marriage. Jr. had five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Jr. also leaves behind three brothers, James Earl “Rusty,” Bobby and Roger Vann, and two sisters Betty Davis and Nellie Byrum. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Vann, and a sister, Jeanette Price. He was the son of Walter and Ollie Grace Vann.

Jr. was retired from working as a farmer and logger. He was a member of Church of God in Suffolk.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 8 at Church of God, 207 Kilby Ave., Suffolk.
