Florence Norfleet Lassiter, 95, formerly of Hobbsville, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, in Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk.

Mrs. Lassiter was born in Suffolk on Sept. 15, 1922, and was the daughter of the late James Thomas and Celia Boyce Norfleet. Retired from Lipton Tea after more than 25 years of employment, she was a member of Zion United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Lassiter; her son, Tommy Franks; and by her sister, Cornelia Babb.

Surviving are a daughter, Cindy Grefe and husband, Charles, of Harrisonburg; a son, James A. “Jimmy” Franks and wife, Linda, of Suffolk; a daughter-in-law, Paige Franks, of Chesapeake; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a special friend and companion, Elmer Bunch, of Hobbsville.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Zion United Methodist Church and will be conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Steve Hall. Friends may join the family in the social hall of the church immediately following the service, and the graveside rites in Damascus Church Cemetery in Sunbury will follow that reception.
