To the editor:

The Suffolk Police Officers Association Local 780, after careful consideration and a unanimous vote by the Executive Board, has chosen to endorse Susan Draper for re-election to the position of Commissioner of Revenue for the city of Suffolk.

The Executive Board felt that her more than 15 years of experience in a commissioner of the revenue office, including nearly three of those years as Suffolk’s commissioner of the revenue, gives her a better understanding of the city’s needs and priorities in relation to our daily lives and the city’s day-to-day operations.

The support Susan Draper has shown for public safety has been well noted, and we greatly appreciate the efforts she has put forward so far.

Our organization does not represent the police department, but instead the individuals who day in and day out are seen as ambassadors for the city. Our relationship with the city continues to grow stronger, and we hope that Susan Draper will be an integral part of that growth.

We wish her the best of luck with her campaign for re-election.
