Lake Prince Woods retirement community has recently named two new people to leadership roles.

Cheri Fields has been hired as the director of nursing, and the Rev. Sarah Snell has been named interim chaplain.

Fields has more than 10 years of experience in nursing. She began her career in 2007, when she graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.

Her first three years were spent as a medical-surgical nurse. She then worked as a unit manager for a nursing home. Fields was promoted to assistant director of nursing for that community and later became director of nursing.

She also served as clinical manager for a hospice agency.

Fields  chose Lake Prince Woods because of its warm and welcoming environment that will allow her to showcase her skills as well as gain new ones.

“I have a genuine passion for nursing. I truly believe that I was called to be in this field,” said Fields. “I am excited about having the opportunity to be a part of the Lake Prince Woods family.”

The Rev. Snell is a resident of Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville, N.C., a sister community to Lake Prince Woods.

Snell is an ordained Christian minister with honorary standing in the Southern Conference of the United Church of Christ. She attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1956.

Snell said she was called to serve at the age of 5. She knew her mission in life would be to tell everyone she could around the world that Jesus loved them.

She has used her gifts and talents in many ways throughout the years. She has been on countless mission trips around the world, including Indonesia, Guam and China six times.

“We do not have to speak the same language, look alike, or be the same in any other way because the language of love is universal and speaks to us all,” she said. “My role as chaplain at Lake Prince Woods is to meet the needs of people who may not have loved ones to visit in their time of need.”

“As we search to fulfill the duties of a full-time chaplain at Lake Prince Woods, we are blessed to have Rev. Snell on our campus,” Executive Director Judy Raymond stated in a press release. “She has a great spirit and spreads joy with all she meets.”
