Construction of a new community center and place of worship in North Suffolk is expected to finish by the end of the year.

Hub 757 is a $10.1-million, multi-purpose facility for the Believers Church congregation based in the Western Branch community of Chesapeake. The facility is expected to be completed in the next several weeks and the doors opened to the community on Dec. 3, Believers Church communications and outreach director Heather Carl stated in an email.

“Everyone is welcome to join us,” Carl stated.

Contractor C.W. Brinkley Inc. of Suffolk broke ground on Hub 757 in August 2016 at Bridgeway Road in the Harbour View community, with architectural designs by Building God’s Way of Utah and financing through TowneBank.

The event center is about a 10-minute drive from the church’s current location on Peek Trail in Chesapeake, where services will continue to be held through November, according to Carl.

Insufficient space motivated church members to build Hub 757, which will seat more approximately 900 people — more than twice the capacity of their current building.

Hub 757 will have a kitchen, café, day school, a fellowship hall and indoor and outdoor playgrounds. The church’s Oak & Lily Academy preschool, kindergarten and before- and after-school care will be held at the new location, and there will also be an outdoor amphitheater and rooms to serve families with special needs.

Carl stated that reservations are already being made to use the facility for events such as concerts, conferences, parties, training workshops and weddings.

“We’re having lots of interest in Hub 757,” she stated.
