On Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, our beloved mother, Marion Reid Cross, passed into eternal rest at her home. She was the third of five children born to Herbert and Emma Reid. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Cross Sr., and grandson, Rico Cross; three brothers, Herman Reid, Lawrence Reid and Norris Reid.

Marion accepted Christ in her life at an early age and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Suffolk.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was a kind, humble person. She brightened the lives of her family and was the center of her children’s and grandchildren’s lives. She will be loved and missed forever.

She leaves to mourn her loss, four daughters, Carolyn Cross (caregiver), the Rev. Phyllis Allen (Jeff), Myrtle Cross and Marion Johnson (C.G.); son, Phillip Cross Jr.; granddaughter, Keiona; grandsons, Whitney, Casey, Daylan, Michael, Corey, Chris, Jeffrey and Cameron; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Ernest Reid; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at noon Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at Oak Grove Baptist Church 2635 E. Washington St. She will be laid to rest in Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
