On Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, Alton Lee “Red” Reid went home to be with the Lord after a long and courageous battle with illness. He was born on Oct. 27, 1964, to George Lee Reid Sr. and the late Susie M. Reid. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Roderick Reid, and niece, Parneshia Gatling.

Alton attended Suffolk Public Schools, and he was an auto mechanic at Bryant Motorsports Auto Sales until his health failed him. He was a member of Upper Room Holiness Church.

Alton leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Irene J. Reid; daughters, Vanessa C. Reid, Tasha M. Harris and Shinikqua Ward; father, George L. Reid Sr.; sisters, Elder Lenora Reid, Joanne Calvie (Dwayne) and Iris Reid (Arthur); brothers, George L. Reid Sr. (Cheryl), Broderick Reid (Daralynn), Alvis Reid (Tammy), Darnell Reid (Sherry), Pastor Fletcher Reid (Tonia) and Earnest Eure (Linda); mother-in-law, Irene Hall (Clinton); sister-in-law, Cynthia Dowling; granddaughter, Brianna N. Harris; and a host of other family and friends.

Mr. Reid’s visitation will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, at the funeral home. A celebration of life service will take place at 1 p.m. Friday at New Paul’s Temple Holiness Church, and he will be laid to rest at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
