Joseph M. Jordan

Joseph M. Jordan passed away on Nov. 18, 2017, at his home with his family by his side.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Eugene Jordan, a brother Cecil Jordan and a sister Ruby Hodges.

He joined the Army Air Corps at age 17 and served as an Airborne Ranger for 12 years. He was chosen to serve as a member of the Presidential Honor Guard during John F. Kennedy’s visit to Fort Stewart, Ga., at the end of the Cuban Missile Crisis on Nov. 26, 1962.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Jennefer Ambrose (Joseph) of Zuni and Julie Bartley (Robert John) of Suffolk; grandchildren, Bria Ambrose, Brandy Ambrose, Tristan Pressley and Sydney Pressley; aunt Anna Roberson; cousin Judi Harcum; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank his “sidekick,” Nurse Linda Evans, and Medi Home Hospice for the care provided during his brief illness.

A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, 509 West Washington St.. Interment will be in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road.
