William Crowder Barnes Jr., 77, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family and friends on Dec. 4, 2017. He was born in Gates County, N.C., the son of the late William Crowder Barnes Sr. and Nellie Robert Baker Barnes. He was predeceased by his siblings, Barbara Nelms and Aubrey Barnes. William served in the U.S. National Guard for six years. He later went on to work and retire as an inspector for Timber Products Inspection. He attended Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church.

William is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia J. Barnes; son and daughter-in-law, Michael S. and Monica Barnes; and grandchildren, Darian Holmes (Tanner), Ashleigh Barnes, Patricia Barnes and Michael Barnes Jr.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with the Rev. Joseph Poe officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
