Saints improve to 3-0

Coach Larry Ward and the Saints basketball team have improved to 3-0.

The Saints took on Norfolk Collegiate at home Friday night and pulled in a 46-30 win. It gives the Saints a nice win after defeating Norfolk Christian School on Tuesday.

Last week, Ward said he wanted to see what kind of team he had when they started hitting their tougher games, and it’s been so far, so good for the Saints. Jared Hawkins led the Saints in scoring with 15 points. The Saints are capable of having a different leading scorer in every game. Ward likes the way his team has been playing.

“We want to build on the momentum we have,” Ward said. “We have played a couple of conference schools and have played well. We have to continue what we have been doing and share the basketball. The guys have been playing really good defense lately.”

Ward believes that the main thing the Saints need to continue to do is get better at defense. Their philosophy is to hold teams to just one shot and then rebound the basketball.

NSA will take on Portsmouth Christian School on the road at 7 p.m. Monday.
