Suffolk Public Schools will offer an additional opportunity this week for parents and community members to comment on an upcoming rezoning.

A public input session will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday during the School Board meeting.

The school division plans to open two new schools in fall 2018 — Florence Bowser Elementary School and Col. Fred Cherry Middle School.

An input session at last month’s meeting attracted only one speaker, but the board emphasized at that meeting that it wants to explore a citywide rezoning.

Rezoning proposals are anticipated to be available to the public on the school’s division’s website in January. Another public input session will be held at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 11.

A formal presentation of the proposals will be made during the board meeting on Feb. 8. A final vote on the plan is set for March.
