Zack Horton Jr., 88, of White Herons Lane, transitioned Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was the son of the late Marie Wilson Horton and Zack Horton Sr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Walker Horton.

Zack retired from Planters after 35 years of dedicated service, and he also worked at Walmart for eight years. He was a member of Christian Home Baptist Church, where he was an usher and a member of the hospitality committee.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Bridgette Rider (Jerome), of Suffolk; sister, Pearleen Walker, of Suffolk; grandchild, Carwyn Rider, of Suffolk; three sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; four cousins; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at noon Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, at Christian Home Baptist Church, 20123 Longview Drive, Windsor. He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
