Isiah Baker

Isiah “Ike” Baker, son of the late Willie T. and Esther Mae Baker, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018. Ike retired from the U.S. Marine Corps after 12 years and joined the Kentucky Fried Chicken firm, where he served as area manager for 28 years. He was employed with Walmart, where he spent the last 12 years, at the time of his death.
He is survived by his daughter, Victoria Baker, of Suffolk, Sheryl Freeman, of Chesapeake, Diane Baker, of Philadelphia, Pa., and Angela Baker, of Arizona; one son, Isiah Baker; three sisters, Lavinia Baker and Evelyn Haskins, of Suffolk, and Mildred Robinson, of Philadelphia, Pa.; several grandchildren, including Jonetta Hale, Jaeda Hale and Zarion Clark, of Suffolk; three nieces, Susann Hillard, of Hampton, Laverne Arline, of Chesapeake, and Carol Evaldi, of Virginia Beach. Preceding him in death were two brothers, Willie T. Baker Jr. and James Baker; one sister, Willie Mae Philiar; and a devoted companion, Betty Slaughter.
Ike was a faithful member of Chapel Grove United Church of Christ, Windsor, where he served until his death.
A wake will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at Crocker Funeral Home Inc., 900 E. Washington St., Suffolk. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at Chapel Grove UCC, 7366 W. Blackwater Road, Windsor.
