One man was taken to the hospital with possible life-threatening injuries after a crash Wednesday morning.

The accident happened at 11:02 a.m. at Portsmouth Boulevard near the intersection with Suburban Drive, according to a city press release. Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire and Rescue responded to find a single vehicle had rolled over, and the driver had been ejected from the vehicle.

The man was airlifted via Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, the press release stated.

The roadway was closed in both directions for a period of time, but all lanes had reopened by noon.

The crash remains under investigation.
