Search and rescue exercise set for Saturday

Multiple public safety agencies will participate in a search-and-rescue exercise on Saturday, with initial staging at King’s Fork High School.

The Suffolk Joint Search and Rescue Team, including personnel from Suffolk Fire & Rescue and Suffolk Police, as well as multiple other local, regional and volunteer agencies and groups, will participate, according to a press release.

Other participants include Tidewater Search and Rescue, Piedmont Search and Rescue, Gates County N.C. Search and Rescue, Civil Air Patrol and dog teams from K9 Alert, Dogs East, TriSar and Greater Atlantic Rescue Dogs, the press release stated.

The exercise will begin about 8:30 a.m. at the high school, 351 Kings Fork Road.

“This type of joint training exercise is invaluable to the dedicated men and women who comprise search and rescue teams and provide this priceless community resource,” the press release stated.
