Mary R. Melton, 81, of Walters Highway, Windsor, transitioned Sunday, April 1, 2018, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Pearl Crocker Burrell and Vernon Burrell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alphonsia Melton.

She retired from Redd’s Supermarket as a deli manager.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Syleslie Ricks (Larry), of Windsor, and Cynthia Banks (Vernal), of Suffolk; son, Gordon Burrell (Elaine), of Suffolk; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Chapel Grove U.C.C., 7366 Blackwater Road, Windsor. She will be laid to rest in Tyler Family Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
